Blue Zones Project Palm Springs Hosts “Planting Seeds” Community Meeting to Launch Community Garden, Strengthen Neighborhood Connections, and Support Local Entrepreneurs
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (May 11, 2026) — Blue Zones Project Palm Springs is inviting community members for an evening of connection, collaboration, and community well-being at the upcoming “Planting Seeds” community meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ajalon Missionary Baptist Church, 433 W Tramview Rd, in North Palm Springs.
The free community gathering, hosted in partnership with Ajalon Missionary Baptist Church, Caravanserai Alliance for Entrepreneurs, and From The Land, will mark the launch of a new Blue Zones Project Palm Springs supported community garden initiative at Ajalon Missionary Baptist Church focused on expanding access to fresh food, supporting healthier lifestyles, and strengthening neighborhood connections in North Palm Springs.
Throughout the evening, residents will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss community priorities, and learn more about resources available through Caravanserai, especially entrepreneurship training, small business support services, access to capital opportunities, and local micro-grant programs designed to help neighborhood entrepreneurs and community-based initiatives grow and thrive.
The gathering will also center around something simple yet meaningful: breaking bread as neighbors. Guests will share a Blue Zones-inspired meal prepared with ingredients sourced from local micro farms, offering a tangible example of the kind of healthy, community-based food ecosystem this initiative hopes to help cultivate locally.
“Strong communities are built when people invest in the places where they live,” said Mihai Patru, Executive Director of Blue Zones Project Palm Springs. “Community gardens, local entrepreneurs, and small businesses all play a critical role in sustainable well-being by increasing access to healthy food, strengthening social connection, and driving local economic development from the ground up.”
“I fully support the work of Blue Zones Project Palm Springs and their commitment to bringing meaningful resources, healthier opportunities, and stronger community connections to North Palm Springs,” said Reverend Carter of Ajalon Missionary Baptist Church. “This partnership is about creating a better and healthier environment for our neighbors — one where people feel supported, connected, and empowered to thrive.”
“Caravanserai is guided by the conviction that fostering local entrepreneurship serves as a vital foundation for cultivating community resilience and health,” said Bradley Chargualaf, Co-CEO of Caravanserai Alliance for Entrepreneurs. “Through this collaboration, we are uniting essential resources like food accessibility and social cohesion with robust mentorship for neighborhood innovators. We are honored to join forces with Blue Zones Project Palm Springs, Ajalon Missionary Baptist Church, and From The Land in championing this transformative initiative for North Palm Springs.”
The project was made possible through the generosity of Regional Access Project Foundation, which donated all materials for the garden beds, and Oswit Land Trust, which generously provided trees for the space.
The event is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to register in advance through: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/blue-zones-project-palm-springs-planting-seeds-community-meeting-tickets-1987079760053
